Please note, these answers apply to all our van and car hire vehicles.
To enable you to rent cars, MPVs or vans from us we require you to produce the following documentation. If you cannot find your licence we can ring DVLA, however, for this there is a small change.
- Driving licence (if you possess the old style driving license, we’ll need to see your passport)
- 2 recent utility bills showing your current address (under 3 months old)
- Credit or debit card
- Driving licence (International driving licence if outside of the EU)
- Full details of your residence whilst in the UK including postcode and phone number
- Credit or debit card
In most instances, we require a deposit of £200 which we will authorise on a debit or credit card. We reserve the right to charge a higher deposit for younger drivers and when hiring high value vehicles.
The standard age range for hiring a vehicle is 27 to 72 years of age. We can always try to arrange hire for lower drivers, as long as you have 2 full year’s driving experience on a full licence, If you are in this age range (23-27) please contact us with your licence and we will input your details into our system to check what is available to you.
Standard hire is UK based only. However,we can arrange cover for EU travel – this costs £100 per week, minimum charge £100. Please also note that our breakdown cover is restricted to the UK and we will not allow vehicles overseas without European breakdown cover. This can be arranged for you via the AA or RAC and costs between £50 – 80 per week. If you are an AA or RAC member already you can often add this cover at a much lower cost.
Quoted rates are for 1 driver only. However, you can add up to 2 additional drivers if you so wish. The additional cost for this will vary dependant on age, convictions, driving experience, etc. but is normally around £7.50 per day per driver. We need to see the additional drivers’ at the time of booking on collecting the vehicle.
Under certain circumstances we can allow the use of your own insurance. However, it is important that you contact us in advance if you are considering this, as we will need to see a copy of the original certificate of insurance and we will need to contact the company or broker concerned to ensure that the cover is valid etc. We reserve the right to exclude this facility at any time.

There are no mileage restrictions on a standard hire.
Long term hire of new vehicles may have restrictions placed on the mileage but this is a normal part of a long term hire agreement and is discussed with the customer prior to price negotiations and ordering the vehicle.
The standard insurance excess can be reduced to a maximum of £250, £400, £500 dependent on the vehicle by taking out low cost collision damage waiver insurance, which we would highly recommend. Please note, however, that this does not cover you for the loss of, or damage to tyres, wheels, keys, audio equipment or fuel contamination.
Vehicle fuel levels are recorded on collection. The vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, you will be charged. Charges will be deducted from your deposit.
